Our Story
African Extracts Rooibos skin care is a family business based in Cape Town, South Africa. Launched 20 years ago, it’s one of the most successful skin-care brands in South Africa, selling more than two million products a year.
“Our hero ingredient is an organic green Rooibos extract, because it offers powerful antioxidant protection and soothing properties,” says Sarah Hetherington. She’s an award-winning former beauty editor who is a co-founder of the brand with her businessman husband, Rob Tiffin.
“After trying so many products, my favourites were those with plant extracts. Our Rooibos extract is combined with specific plant extracts and vitamins for their proven benefits.
“Your daily routine may be quick and easy, but advanced skin science stands behind each product. Being cruelty free, and having ingredients that plant based and sustainably sourced is also important.
“Perhaps my biggest discovery was that good quality, effective skin care that delivers on its promise doesn’t have to cost a fortune.”
CEO Rob Tiffin heads the company and all product development, ingredient sourcing and manufacture is done in our own state-of-the-art factory. This ensures integrity of the process.
